What is 99dollarmusicvideos.com?
99dollarmusicvideos.com is a institution that helps upcoming unsigned artists make music video for $99, this allows the upcoming artist to make there own brand as they have full control of what they do and what goes into the music video, this then means that they can get the audience that they want as they do not have someone else controlling what they do and what they wear.
What is their ethos (value)?
Their ethos are to make sure the music video is made with $99 or less and also for the music video to be made and edited within 24 hours or 1 day, also another value of $99musicvideos.com is bringing together an artist and a filmmakers to collaborate and make the music video.
What types, labels and genres of music appear on their YouTube channel?
The types of labels and genres that appear are rock and indie mainly, there are no labels as all of the artists that are on this website / youtube channel are independent and are trying to promote them self's and there song on this site so that they can get more recognition from different audiences.
What is the relationship between 99dollarmusicvideos.com, their filmmakers and music acts?
The website says that they have to have a tight bond / relationship were they collaborate with filmmakers and artists or giving feedback, were they both share there ideas and have equal amount of input whilst making this music video.
How does 99dollarmusicvideos.com encourage audience participation?
They encourage audience participation by putting the music video's that have been created on youtube and showing the audience that many people who can sing or rap can make a music video whilst saving a lot of money. This can then make other unsigned artists want to try this out to make a music video and try get more recognition. They also encourage audience participation by bringing filmmakers and artists together to go back to the basics and show that they do not need major record labels to make a music video.
Is it possible to make a professional quality music video for $99?
I believe it is possible to make a professional quality music video for $99 because in the music video bellow they use varied shot types and also they use good special effects throughout the music video for example at the time code 0:37 you can see the screen have yellow bits and looks like a olden time music video, this then shows to the audience that with the budget that the artists have they can make quite a good music video.

Goodwin's Ideas about music video

Andrew Goodwin
Andrew Goodwin is a man that identified 5 key aspects of music video, his ideas were key things that distinguished a short film or a piece of animation from a music video. Goodwin published his ideas in a book called 'Dancing in the distraction factory music television and popular culture' which was published January 1992.
Amplifying - This is when the music video is designed to enhance the style and the mood of the song, an example of this is LMFAO - Party Rock for example at the time code 2:26 the beat is quite fast and all of the other dancers and main singers are all dancing quite fast which amplifies the feel and mood of the song, also the cuts from shot to shot are also quite fast which also amplifies the feel of the song.
Contradicting - This is when a music video deliberately goes against the mood of the song, for example if the song was sad then in the music video you would see some happy things going on, an example of this is 'The Story of Us' Taylor Swift , this is contradicting because at the time code 0:06 the beat is quite fast and sounds quite upbeat however in the shot Taylor Swift looks sad and depressed.
Star Persona - This is how the artist is represented an example of this is Beyonce 1+1 as at the time code 0:10 there is a shot of just beyonce which is happening throughout the music video, where the shots throughout the music video are just of beyonce's face or body parts.

Good & Bad Techniques
Large Number Of Cuts - This is were a music video has either a good amount of cuts during the music video or not enough cuts during the music video a good example of this is Ciara - I'm Out as during the music video there are multiple amount of different shot types and camera angles, for example at the time code 0:05 there is one shot of Ciara and then a few seconds later it is another shot of her doing something else at the time code 0:06. This effect is being used to make the music video more interesting and more entertaining. This technique is good because the video is not boring or dull it is very lively. The impact on the on the view is that they can engage more in the music video as it is not all one shot it is multiple shots. This represents the artist as it connotes to the audience that they are very creative in there music video.
A bad example of this is Shontelle - T-Shirt as throughout the music video the shot do not change that much for example at the time code 0:16 you see the same shot of her laying on the sofa for quite a while, this is being used because the song is quite slow and it would look weird if it had a lot of cuts. The technique of this was bad as the music video was quite boring and not interesting. The effect on the audience is that they would not be very engaged with the music video as it is not very exciting or enjoyable. This represents the artist as being quite creative but not as creative as she does not have as many shots to make the music video as interesting as it should be.
Special Effects - Chris Brown Don't Think They Know ft. Aaliyah This music video has good special effects as during the beginning the people that are in the music video and also Chris Brown they are all black and white but there tops are red and blue at the time code of 1:09. This is being used because the song is sad and the red and black shows the different gangs (Crips & Bloods). The technique of this is good because the special effects set the atmosphere of the music video and how it is supposed to show respect to the famous people who have died e.g Aaliyah, this also makes the video interesting. The effect on the audience is that they would be quite engaged in the music video as it is interesting because of the different colours that are being used. This represents the artist as being very creative as the special effects that are being used represent something.
Iron Maiden Can i play with madness - This is a bad example of special effects as at the time code 1:01 you see the clouds make a skull but it is not a good special effect. This is being used to make the music video more interesting to the audience and other viewers. The technique of this music video is bad as the special effects that are being used are quite bad as at the time code of 1:57 the skull in the book starts to move around and flash but it is not as good as it should be and it does not look good. The effect on the audience is that they would think the music video is quite interesting and different however they could also think that it is of a poor standard. The representation on the artist is that they are creative for using special effects and also they are imaginative.
Cutting To The Beat - Beyoncé
1+1 This music video uses cutting to the beat good as near the middle of the music video were there is a thump sound and every time there is that sound the camera shot changes. This is being used so that it adds effect to the music video as it is quite slow and the shots are also quite slow. The technique of this is good as it is interesting to see that whenever the sound comes the shot changes. The effect on the audience is that they would want to watch the music video as it would not be boring. This represents the artist as being quite imaginative as they can change each of the shots on a certain instruments and not just whenever.
Nicki Minaj High School - This is a bad example of cutting to the beat as throughout the music video the shots change whenever. This is being used because the song is quite slow but fast. The technique of this is good as throughout the music video they have quite a few cuts so it makes up for them not cutting to the beat. The effect on the audience is that they would want to see what the music video is like and how good it is compared to other video's, they would also like to see if it is boring or dull. The representation on the artist from the audience would be that they are fun and creative and they have a lot of idea's for there music video's.
Varied Camera Language -
Paramore Misery Business This music video shows good camera language as throughout the music video the shots are constantly changing to something else, at the time code 0:15 you see the camera tilt down the main singers face. This is being used to engage the audience and keep the music video interesting. The effect on the audience is that the music video is effective and not boring as the shots and shot types are changing so there not all ways using a long shot or close up. The representation on the artist is that they are creative, imaginative and fun as the music video looks fun and not boring or dull.
White strips - Seven nation Army - This is a bad example of varied camera language as throughout this music video the shot stays the same it is just that the people and things are coming towards the camera. This is being used for creativity as it looks like the shots are changing however the things are just coming towards the camera. This technique is good and bad because it is interesting and creative however it could get boring. The effect on the audience is that they would be interested for a certain amount of time watching the music video however as it is the same thing throughout the music video it can get boring for the viewers. The representation of the artist is that they are creative in one way however they are also not creative.
Green Screen - Jessie J Domino This is an example of a good green screen as throughout the music video at the time code 0:06 you see the background moving and it does not look like it is a green screen. This is being used because it makes the music video more interesting to watch and is also creative. This technique is good because it is creative and imaginative and is also quite unique compared to other music video's that the audience have previously watched. The effect on the audience would be that the music video is creative and interesting to watch and is not boring. The representation on the artist is that they are quite imaginative and have creative idea's for there music video's.
Neneh Cerry Buffalo Stance - This is a bad example of a green screen as when the background appears at the time code of 0:07 the singer looks like she has been placed onto the background and you can also see the outline around her body. This is being used to try and make the video more creative how ever it is not so good. This technique is bad as the green screen does not look professional as at the time code 0:24 you see the purple outline around her body of were they have tried to place the background behind her. The effect on the audience is that they could think that the music video is quite interesting however they could also think that it is quite badly produced. The representation on the artist is that they are creative for trying to do something different with there music video.
Lip-Syncing - usher climax This is a good example of lip syncing as throughout the music video you see that Ushers lips are moving at the same time as he is singing for example the time code 0:16. This is being used to make it look like the artist is singing right there. This technique that is being used is good because the artist is singing at the same time as his mouth is moving. The effect on the audience is that they would believe that the artist is singing right to the camera and also that they are creative. The representation of the artist is that they are creative and that they are imaginative and that they can also lip sync good.
BLACK UMBRELLA Miley Cyrus - This is a bad example of lip syncing as at the time code 0:42 she is out of time when she is singing by a bit. This is being used because most music video's have been lip sung but in a better way. This technique is bad as when Miley Cyrus is singing on the song in the music video she is out of time and it looks strange. The effect on the audience is that the music video is bad as the artist is singing before the words have been said in the music video, this could then lead to more of the audience not wanting to watch that artists music video because they are bad. The representation of the artist is that they are not good at singing back to the camera however the music video in general is quite creative.

Styles of music video
Genre Video - A music video that has individual conventions to fit a certain genre e.g costumes props and situations e.g smoking links in with rap or hip hop, an example of this is Popccan Party Shot and the genre of this song and music video is dancehall / bashment, you can see this from the way that the girls are dressed in the time code 0:56 This fits the style genre video as the genre of this video is danchall/bashment and you can see this from the way the girls are dancing in the time code
1:02 The institution would use this style to represent the artist as a danchall artist who is quite fun and outgoing and likes to party, this style of music would affect the audience as they would like to see what the artist is like and how he acts towards women for example in the time code 1:25 the artist is on a boat with women with beach suits on which could denote that he is just using them . I could potentially use this style in my music video by having a house song and having people dancing to house music by 'cutting shapes' or just having drinks and looking like they are having fun with friends partying ect, this can then get the audience more involved in the music video by them wanting to try and join in with the music video by doing the dance moves in or trying to make up there own dance moves to the song.
Performance - This is a music video were the band is playing the instruments or the artist is singing to the audience, this can also be seen as both the band and the singer are performing together to the camera/ audience, another part of this could also be "As Live" where the footage is not live but it has been recorded from a live concert, an example of this is 'N in Paris - Jay Z and Kanye West. The example that I am using for performance is Magic Rude this is a performance music video because at the time code 0:16 you see the band playing the instruments and also throughout the music video the lead singing is singing to the audience. This fits the style of performance as the band and the lead singer are singing and playing there instruments to the camera/ audience throughout most of the music video, there are very few moments in this music video were the band and singer are not performing to the camera/ audience. The institution would use this style to give the artist brand so that the audience can visually see what the artist is like and how they dress for example at the time code 1:12 you see the band having fun and jumping around which could indicate to the audience that they are fun and easy going. The positive impact on the audience from this style of music video is that they could possibly relate to the artist and how they are feeling in the music video, for example in the time code 0:40 the lead singer is getting rejected by his girlfriends father to marry her, this also means that the audience will have a positive representation of the artist if they like the way they act and dress in the music video. I could potentially use this style in my music video by having either a hip hop or rap song but someone could be saying the lyrics to the camera so it will be like they are performing it to the audience, this could then get the audience more involved in the music video as it is like the artist is singing to them which could then mean that the audience could then relate more to the artist.
Narrative - This is a music video were the audience can see a clear story line in the music video, so it can either tell the story of the song or tell a different story (the story line develops), an example of this is Sam Smith I'm Not The Only One this is a narrative music video as the video is about a husband cheating on the wife and thinking that she doesn't know however she does, the music video tells a story about the song so they match you can see this at the time code of 1:14 This fits the style of narrative as the music video is telling a story to the audience that explains the song. The institution would do this so that the artists song would make sense to the audience if they have only listened to it and not watch it, for example at the time code 1:12 when Sam Smith sings "you and me we made a vowel" the audience then see the woman start to take off her wedding ring, this also impacts the audience as they can visually see the artists and could possible relate to the music video from past experience's that they could have had for example at the time code 1:51 you see Sam Smith singing, this could then mean that the audience can see what type of person the artist is. I could potentially use this in my music video by having a soft slow song and adding in a music video that tells a story and links up with the music video so for example if the song was speaking about a girl running away from home, in the music video there would be a scene of a girl packing her stuff and walking out the door at night.
Animation - This is a music video that is cartoon based or stop animation an example of this is Gorillaz Clint Eastwood which is an animated music video, you can see that this music video is animated in the time code 1:04 were you see holograms in the sky. This fits the style of animation as at the time code 1:14 the members of the group are cartoon characters and not real people. The institution would do this so that the artist can be unique to other artists by having a different format or by having the entire music video animated, this then gives the artist more chance of building a unique brand by having more animation for example at the time code 1:34 you see the band as cartoon characters and they stop playing there instruments because a hologram cracks the floor. This also has a positive impact on the audience as they can see that the artist is more unique and has more of an imagination which would then make more of the target audience and general public want to watch the artists music video's to see what they do next for example at the time code 2:02 you see that in the music video you see the lead singer singing whilst tombs and graves are popping up in the background. I could potentially use this in my music video by having most parts of it animated and a few shots not this could connote that I am creative in the rang of animated shots that I would be using to make the music video more unique.
Interpretive - This is a music video that when the word is sung in the music video you see what the artist is singing or rapping about, an example of this is R Kelly Trapped In The Closet Chapter 1 you can see that this is an interpretive music video as at the time code 0:39 R Kelly sings that the rays from the sun wakes him and in the music video you see him start rolling as the sun hits him. This fits the style of interpretive as when R Kelly is singing something then it will happen on the screen for example at the time code 0:48 R Kelly sings that the woman comes out and kisses him and she does. The institution would do this so that the audience can understand visually what the artists is singing or rapping about, for example in this song R Kelly is singing about what has happened during his day and at the time code 1:12 he sings that he was quickly trying to put on his cloths, and in the music video you see him trying to put them on quickly. The positive impact on the audience from this is that they can visually see what the artist is like and also what he/she is singing about for example at the time code ... you see R Kelly in a suit which could connote that he is very smart and hard working. I could potentially use this in my music video by having the same thing that someone says or sings about to come up on the screen so that it makes more sense to the audience, for example someone singing or rapping 'I got this black suit on' then someone having a black suit on.
Impressionist - This is when the music and music video match the feel of a song, this is also when the audience visually sees examples that match the mood of the song, for example Ed Sheeran Thinking Out Loud, this music video matches the feel of the song as on the time code 0:18 you see Ed Sheeran and his dance partner walking towards each other with spot lights on them. This fits the style of impressionist as the sound of the song and the music video fit as at the time code 0:47 you see Ed Sheeran and his partner dancing together whilst he is singing to her. This institution would do this so that they can make an image of the artist towards the target audience and also towards the general public, for example at the time code 1:21 you see Ed Sheeran and his partner stop for a second like looking into each others eye's which gives the audience the impression that he is soft and caring. The positive impact on the audience is that they can visually feel how the artist is feeling from how they act in the music video for example at the time code 1:29 you see Ed Sheeran and his partner hug and almost kiss which could connote to the audience that he is in love and that he is very soft. I could potentially use this in my music video by having either a slow loving song which then has shots of a couple dancing and singing together or if it was a rap song I would have people smoking and in a party.
Surreal/Abstract - This is a music video that is quite strange and out of the ordinary, it is like a video that was made for art, an example of this is Basement Jaxx Where's Your Head At, this is a surreal music video because at the time code 0:49 you see the doctor put a guitar on the stuffed monkey, also at the time code 1:23 you see that there are peoples heads that are on the monkeys bodies whilst they are playing the instruments. The institution would do this so that the artist would then have a brand to the audience as having weird music video's which could then get more people than just the artists target audience to watch this for example at the time code 2:12 you see that the monkeys are singing to the guy this could denote to the audience and the general public that the artist is imaginative. The positive impact on the audience is that they may not visually see the artist but they can kind of see in to the artists mind from what they do in the music video this could imply that the artist wants their music video to be different from the others. I could potentially use this in my music video by having people's faces on different animals bodies whilst they are singing .
Pastiche/Homage - This is on type of music video that inter-textually references movies, this copies the films camera styles or could be a direct copy of the film, for example Michael Jackson Thriller which is a copy of the film Night Of The Living Dead, you can see in the time code 3:17 that in Michael Jackson Thriller he uses the same part from Night Of The Living Dead from this time code 0:45 This is where both of the girls from MJ thriller and Night Of The Living Dead are running from a monster. This fits the style of homage as in the time code 8:04 of MJ Thriller you see that it has a similar scene to Night of the living dead at the time code of 1:08 as in the music video and the film both the male and female character are both trying to protect them self's from the zombies. The institution would do this so that the artist music video can be more entertaining and this can lead to the artists becoming more known to people that watch movies. The positive impact on the audience is that if they have seen the film Night Of The Living Dead then whilst they would be watching the music video Thriller they would then see some aspects from the film which connote to the audience that the artist is creative and imaginative. I could possible use this in my music video by having scenes or the same camera language from a film which could interest more than just the target audience.
Parody - This is when another music video makes fun of another media text and copies it, this fits the style of parody as the music video White And Nerdy is the parody to Riding Dirty, we can see this as in the time code 0:16 you see in white and nerdy he is doing the same thing just in a funnier way to ridding dirty at the time code 0:37 as they are both standing behind red beams of light. The institution would do this so that the artists that is doing the parody to the original music video could then get some recognition from more of the audience that listens and watches rap/hip hop type music video's, and as the artist would get more recognition more of the audience would be most likely to look them up to see if they have any more funny music video parody's for example at the time code of 1:22 of white and nerdy the artist used the same background and clothing of riding dirty at the time code of 2:02. The positive impact on the audience is that they can see a new artist making fun of another artist song which could then make the audience want to look at more of the unknown artists music video. I could potentially do this in my music video by having some copied scenes from another music video made funnier than the original.
Referencing - This is were a music video has included footage of a film or TV program, and example of this is Will Smith Men In Black which is in the film Men In Black, you can see that this is referencing as in the time code 0:47 you see a scene from the film where all the workers are in the workshop. This fits this style as there are scenes from the film for example at the time code 1:35 you see aliens from the film. The institution would do this so that the music video and the film can be promoted from either watching the music video or watching the music video, this could then promote the artist further to the audience as being and actor and rap artists. The impact on the audience from this is that they can see the music video at the end of the film and also from YouTube so they can see the artist in a different light by seeing that they are in a film and also doing the song and music video for the film. I could potentially use this in my music video by having scenes of a film that would represent me as an artist.
Genre Subverting Video - This is a music video that goes against the normal genre for example a rap artists music video could have some country music video aspects in it, an example of this is Korn Twisted Transistor - This music video is genre subverting as the four artists are replaced with rap artists singing the song however the rap artists are dressed as they would normally, you can see this in the time code of 1:01 This fits the style of genre subverting as it shows how the rap artists are saying the lyrics and playing the instruments of a rock band. The institution would use this style so that they could get a different audience watching this video as it has famous rap artists in it like Snoop Dog and Xzibit for example at the time code 0:29 you see snoop dog playing the guitar which could suggest to the audience that he is in the song, this would then get the music video more views as more people than just the target audience of the band Korn would watch it. The impact on the audience is that they can see that the artists have more of an imagination to there music video's and are not boring this could then make the audience tell some of there friends about the video that famous rap artists are in which could then mean that more people are likely to watch it as in the time code 0:58 you see the famous black rap artists playing all the instruments. I could potentially use this style in my music video by having a rap song e.g B.I.G - Big Poppa, but having a party/house music video like Breach - Jack I would use this style to get more than a rap audience or more than a house audience to watch this video so both house and rap audience would possible enjoy this music video as it has rapping in it and it also has house in it.

The purpose of music videos
Promote New Music Release - The Internet can raise awareness of unknown artists which can then make unknown artists like Rebecca Black into stars. 'Friday', was Rebecca Black first song and no one knew who she was until this song got put onto the Internet and went viral as it was catchy. This then promotes the song as it is catchy and as the song is called Friday and she is speaking out going out on the weekend which is what she is doing in the music video with her friends the song and video make sense. The positive impacts on the artist is that there music video can become viral in a matter of days over YouTube and through social networking sites, however if the song or music video is not good then it will not be viral and the unknown artist would not have been known. The positive impact for the record label is that they do not have to pay him/her that much as he/she is an unsigned artist however if the song and music video did not pull off then they would make a loss. The positive impact to the audience is that there is a new artist that they can see and get a visual representation of from how they act in the music video however if the song or music video is bad then it will hardly get listened to or watched.
Visual Representation Of Artist - This communicates energy and style of the artist meaning that the audience can visually see what the artist is like from how they act in the video and also how they sing the song for example weather they are sad, happy or kind, an artist that is mostly sad is Sam Smith, as his songs and music video's are quite sad, soft and nice e.g Sam Smith 'I'm Not The Only One', for example at the time code of 0:44 you see that the wife looks upset after she has waved goodbye to her husband. This then allows the audience to relate to the artist in there songs and how they act in the music videos if they have had past experiences. The positive impact on the artist is if the song or video is quite emotional it portrays that the artist is a very emotional person and this can get more of the target audience to watch the music video to see if the music video is as emotional as the artist singing it, however if the artists singing is emotional and the video is out of the ordinary then the audience will not necessarily be able to relate to the artist. The positive impact on the record label is that they can give the artist a image to create so that it will appeal to the target audience, however if the record label creates a bad image that the target audience do not like then the audience will hardly watch the video's or songs. The positive impact on the audience is that they can relate to an artist if they are good and the music video's are good, however if the music video or song is not good then the audience will not relate to the artist.
To Extend Play Ability And Provide Additional Income - This is when a new music video/song has just come out and it is being played everywhere frequently, for example playing music video's on music channels after release, this is when a music video and song has come out and it is popular the music channels constantly repeat the video for a certain amount of time e.g Ariana Grande 'The Way'. This is a positive impact for the artist as there music video and song will become more viral quicker as if people like the music video and song they will then search for it on YouTube and possibly share it on Facebook, however if the music video and song is not good then the song and music video could not get looked at from as many people as as the artist hoped. This is also a positive impact on the record label as if the music video is good and the song is also good that then means that every time the music channel plays this music video the record label then gets paid, however if the music video and song are not good this then means that there will not be as many views on the music video and the music channels will hardly play the music video. This is a positive impact on the audience as they can watch the music video and listen to the songs on demand if the song is good however if the music video and song is bad then the target audience would not watch or listen to it.
To Create Synergy With Other Media Sectors - This is when two types of media join together for example music and movies working together, an example of this is Pharrell Williams 'Happy' which is in the movie 'Despicable Me 2', this is good for the artist as they can then get acknowledge by a different audience which would then wider there audience rang, for example at the time code 0:04 you see the minions on a white background whilst the song lyrics are popping up which would then mean that more people than just there target audience would find out about the artist and there music video's. This is also good for the record label as they can make more money from the artist being on the sound track of a big film for example Alicia Keys & Jack White 'Another Way To Die' which was the theme song for James Bond film 'Quantum of Solace' this is a big film and the producers of the film would have had to have paid a lot to use the artists song. This is good for the audience as they can find out about an artist from a film as they could be in the trailer for the film which then means that the audience would search for the artists other songs and watch the videos.
Art - 'All Is Full Of Love' Bjork this is an example of a video that is made for art, this music video is all about two robots being made then they kiss at the time code 1:33 Video's that are for art are music video's that have unique video's not just of the artist singing or rapping to the music. This is a positive impact on the artist as they can be acknowledge by the target audience and general public, known as the artist with the artistic and weird music video's which could then get the artist a wider target audience watching there music video's. This also has a positive impact on the record label as if the target audience and the general public like the music video and the music channels play there music video then the record label will be paid from the music channels. This is a positive impact on the song as the song will then become more viral from the music video and more people will have heard about the song because of the music video. This is a positive impact for the audience as they can see what new music video's the artist has come up with and how artistic it will be they can also show there friends the music video which could then lead to word of mouth promotion for the music video.

Music Video Outlets

Music Channels - Music channel outlets like Kiss and AKA help the artists music video become viral and be recognisable to the artists target audience, this then give the institution more chance to make profit from the views of the artists music video, for example when Ariana Grande's song and music video 'The Way' came onto the music channel kiss it started to get more known by the public and also by Ariana Grande's target audience and once this happened the music channel Kiss then started to play the music video more often as they knew that most of the general public enjoyed the video and the song. The music video for this song had gotten 100 million views on October 2nd 2013, which shows that having multiple outlets is better than one as you can get people to view the music video and also listen to the music video on multiple websites or TV programs ect. The positive impact that music channels have on the artists is that if the song and music video that the channel are playing is good then they will end up playing the song multiple times in a day so that more people will get to know the song instead of just the artists target audience, however a negative for this is that if the audience that are watching the channel do not like the songs/ music video's that they are playing the audience are more likely to switch the channel which means that the music channel will lose views which then means that they will then have to stop playing that artists song/ music video which will then mean that the artists music video will not get as much recognition as the artist would like. The positive impact that music channels have on record labels is that whenever the music channel play one of the artist music video they have to pay the record label for the public to see this, also by using music channels there is a wider target audience reached which then means that more people will find out about the artist and want to then watch the music video's and listen to the artists songs, however a negative to this is that when there are adverts and ect the host/ presenters of this can then say how bad the music video and song is which then means that more people are likely to think the same which then means that the record label would make a loss in profit. The positive impact that music channels will have on the song is if the music video and the song is good then they will play the music video and song more often than others so that the song and music video can become more public and get more views, however if the song and the music video are both bad then the music channel are less likely to promote it as much as if there was a better song and music video. The positive impact that music channels will have on the audience is that it is free to watch and the audience can also rewind or record this so it is kind of on demand which then means that they can keep up to date with new music video's and songs, however if the audience are watching and listening to the song then they wouldn't want there to be adverts in between every 2-3 songs as it would get quite annoying as you would then have to wait for the adverts to finish to watch and listen to the song/ music video. The positive impact that music channels have on Ariana Grande is that more people was watching her music video 'The Way' which made it very popular in the UK and US. The positive impact that music channels have on the record label is that when 'The Way' came out the music channels was playing this song often which meant that the music channels had to pay the record label every time they played the music video. The positive impact on the song 'The Way' is that more people than just the target audience are likely to watch the music channel to watch the music video.

Streaming Websites - Streaming websites such as YouTube, can help the artists music video to become more popular and know around the world, for example Psy was an unknown artist but because of his music video and song his music video and song became viral, which then gave him 2,128,755,923 on this music video, streaming websites are also very good as they are on demand so you can watch a music video when ever you wanted to. The positive impacts of streaming websites on the artists is that the music video can be seen by millions of people which would means that not only the artists target audience would have seen the video but it would be open to a wider audience, however if the artists target audience and general public do not like the music video they will not get many views and the song will not be as viral as they would hope for it to be. The positive impact on the record label is that if the artists music video is like and enjoyed and they get thousands of views the record label will then start to get payed for the audience who watch it, however if the audience want to watch the video before it is out most people will have leaked the video so the record label will not make any money from the audience watching the music video or listening to the song. The positive impact that streaming websites will have on the song is that if the song is good and the audience also like the music video then more people will then watch the music video on YouTube which will then mean that the video will get more views, however if the audience do not like the music video or the song, the song will not get listened to and the video will not get watched which means that the video will have few views. The positive impact that streaming websites will have on the audience is that it is free to watch, so they will not have to pay to buy the DVDs or special edition Cd's, and it is also on demand so the audience can then watch the music video when ever they like, however if the music video that the artist target audience would like to watch has some explicit content then there is an age restriction which then means that you would have to have a YouTube account that is over a certain age to watch the music video. The benefits of putting Pys's music video on YouTube is that more people around the world would share this music video and put it onto there YouTube page, this then makes Psy more recognisable to the general public ect. The positive impact on the song Gangnam style is that more people would want to watch the music video to see what everyone is speaking about.
Downloads ( Legal & Illegal ) - Downloading websites such as pirate bay and tubbidy which allow you to download music video's for free, which then means that the audience can watch this video on demand as it would be on there laptops or phones ect. The positive impact on the artist from using downloads is that from the target audience downloading the music video's the target audience could then use word of mouth to promote the video which means that more people including the target audience will know about the music video and song which means that the artists music videos and songs can be open to a wider target audience however if the target audience do not like the music video or song they are then less likely to download the video and less likely to speak about the artists music video to people. The positive impacts on downloads on the record label is that if the audience start to download the music video they can make money from them downloading it, however if the audience are using illegal downloading websites the record label are making a loss of money as they are not downloading it from a website that the record label has set up. The positive impact that downloading websites have on the song is that if the song is good the the audience will want to download the music video and will then speak to there friends about it and they would listen to it and then download the music video, however if the song is not good then the audience will not download the music video or speak to there friends about it. The positive impact on the audience is that they are downloading and listening to the music video for free and they can also watch this on demand as they would have it on multiple devices, however if the audience decide to download from a legal website downloading the music video can quite expensive.
