Permission to film

In our music video we do not need permission to film in any of our locations as we will be filming in locations such as an ally way, car park, park, underpass and on the streets and these are all public locations not private property so we do not have to ask permission to film in these locations however if we were filming in a church we would need to ask for permission as it is private and we would probably have needed to go to that church to get permission to film there. This then means that when we need to re shoot anything we do not then have to get permission again to re shoot as it is a public place so we can then re shoot and film at any time on any day, this will also be easier as when we want to film we can, we do not have to wait for a reply to see if we can film in some of the locations that we have chosen.
I have found a quote from the Film London website which says the following - The BFS will be able to:
  • Let you know where you need permission to film
  • Inform you of potential filming hotspots – or of anything going on in the area that may disrupt your filming
  • Advise you on whether or not you need to contact the local police
The BFS stands for the  Borough Film Services

On this page they also say that it is free to film in public places and do not need
permission.
